I have to remember this one more often....
Don't do anything that someone else can do. Don't undertake a project unless it is manifestly important and nearly impossible.

Tesla car
by admin on Jun.19, 2009, under Tech
Nicola Tesla was a great man, regardless the fact that very few people ever heard of him.
No, Marconi did not invented the radio. the same applies to the X-rays, remote control, neon and incandescent lights (wireless) – he could light up bulbs with no wires in 1900’s – and we still cant do that today…the electric engine, etc. If it was by Edison – the one who invented the most inefficient device ever conceived, the electric bulb, or the assistants
did - because actually he did very little hand-on – our world would have been different.
No electricity. Because what he wanted to do it with continuous current. Totally inefficient and stupid, to say the least. Nicola developed the alternate current, and that’s why we have TV and such. A fact not know by most people has well, was that Edison, used to make public demonstrations demonstrations against his rival, killing animals by electrocution for everyone to see that alternate current was dangerous…
Short introduction from were the car’s name came from. A deserved homage, I think.
But there are electric cars since there are cars…They never took off because to drive something that sound’s like a vacuum cleaner is not cool. And they keep forgetting that, after all this green movement hype drys out, electric cars will disappear. They don’t have soul, they do not make you make part of you. They’re just a thing, a bit like a blender. It was the adrenaline, the noise, the difference of power at various parts of engine rotation, etc. And yes, they were dangerous, but that made the fuel driven cars exciting. Not much with the electric ones. Even with the Tesla sport…

The future lies in Hydrogen. Same exciting engines, same soul and power.

Quite different from a blender. Another reason for their failure is that we have not developed the technology to make them more efficient than their fuels powered counterparts.
Probably we will never will, and it does not really matter…
If you really want to save us from doom, became vegetarian and out with all animals. Why? They have the bigger part in all the pollution problem, but is not PC to say it loud…
Not making this up, just check for real data.

When a friend told me about it, the only thing catch my attention was JJ Abrams involvement. Sytart watching the first, by the middle it looked like another FBI thing, but by the end was like WHAT? And the plot get’s better and better, the characters are superb, it’s not an easy movie for a 83 years old but, it’s a damn smart plot. I am still in the 19, things start to make sense, everything fits. What was just nonsense became AH, that’s why, and I have no idea if there will be another season but this is a masterpiece of writing and film series

Dj’s

DJ’s are not musicians. Period.
They can argue that mixing stuff is also to make music, but Music is not. It’s a form of art that end’s up in sounds that we recognize ha
s music.
Portugal, as I see it, the one next to Spain

Well, as is mentioned somewhere in this thingy, I spend a great deal of time out of the country I was born in. Must say from the beginning that now, I feel I don’t own anything to it. I wish I could say otherwise, and be proud of things done. Yes, in the 1500’s or so, we were the best. So what? Should Portugal live only from long lost memories? It’s not even on the dictionary that came by default….
From a foreigner point of view, it look likes a “play country”. The major airline, TAP, had a loss of millions of euros. I checked how much would be a 2 class ticket tgo Berlin. More than 1000 euros! Are they mad? I am going by Easyjet, 60 euros, for Goddess sake.
This looks the la-la land, everyone talks a lot and do nothing, spend most of the time eating – they think is weird not to – , even while in working hours, most of the country is full of misery, people that cant read, live in 1800’s conditions and then they spend millions in things that do not matter at all, like high speed trains…The country is not big enough to justify it! And they’re excuse is the number of people. Well, wrong, it’s the way’s. Look at Nokia, for instance. I think it’s country of origin is even smaller…
The funny part is that outside the borders, no one knows anything about Portugal, but they think the other country’s do. They don’t. Not even something Portugal is very good at, the wine…They don’t believe me of course.

The rates payed at work are ridiculous, to say the least, social security a joke, the music – well let’s not even mention that -, the youth just follows what they think is cool outside, nothing is created, everything is imported. But the people are lovely and that things are. When I was younger I thought things couldd change in one generation. They can’t. It will take 200 years or more to reach an European level. Everything remains the same, and always be.
Otherwise, fantastic weather, fairly safe – they think is not, but they never lived in London – , the ideal place for holidays, have a house here and live somewhere else. Ah, and excellent food as well.
An execelent blog in English can be found at http://www.golisbon.com/blog/ that is a bit more optimist and a very good starting point to visit this country full of contradictions.
Almost forgot, this place is full of new BMW’s and Merc’s, go figure!
Music, has in Music, what on earth happened here?

There was a time when I thought that quality would subside, nonetheless all other problems. I was wrong. Deadly wrong.
I manage to put up, with the monetary help from the other band element, a project that could have breached every boundary in Portugal in quality terms. The actual conditions that made it possible to exist for a short period of time is another story.
I quit my job as a programmer to to do this full time, working on a monochrome 15′ monitor, with a very limited computer and software. Created from scratch a flat panel screen for live stuff – there was none commercially available at the time -. There was no standard cables to go from the screen to the specialized graphics card, I had to use a kind of wide band wire thing…But it worked!
I just could say that the result was a mixture of a miracle, technology, classical instruments, lot’s of help from the people who played them, and tons of madness. We were just a at the wrong place at the wrong time, with the wrong people to manage all of it. And above all, i believed that they knew what they were doing, Wrong again. From the manager agency to the sound technicians.
I spend all my free time building piece by piece all the parts that can be heard, on an old monochrome Cubase sequencer, no samples allowed or virtual instrument’s – like the ones today - Can’t believe it but the computer/software combination was actually rock solid, never crashed in a middle of a song. Obviously, I could have put everything on a background tape, like lot’s do – actually most, no-one dares to take a computer on-stage- , but that’s not “live”. There’s no thrill on it.
Everyone who is a musician knows how dangerous is to back up your performance on a computer…Still, the main sound was produced by the classical instruments, but their cues came from the machine…and me, when things did go the other way. We also had an emergency plan if every machine died. We could just go with the classical instruments, a viola, a cello, and two violins. And it would work, because it was actually music! Isis had one of the best voices ever and I can’t even know were she is at this point….
For the record, The girl that played cello was one of the best I ever seen. She was amazing – Apocalyptica beware. I have no idea how she could play some of the mad things I came up with.
So much time, so many things lost, and the major thing in Portugal is a band called “Xutos”. Oh well…wrong Century I suppose.

Facebook usefull

Facebook apart all the gibberish that goes with the TOO much apps situation, gives us surprises once in a while. A french friend of mine that used to live in Ireland, Cook, after moving there with her boyfriend Barry – that now moved to Berlin -, provided the clues for a very dear friend of mine Angelique. I thought I will never see her again but this social thing sometimes works! By the way she is the ex of the main figure in the Fields f the Nephilim….and NFD are the other ones from this band that no longer has the original elements.
